My prints are inspired by the photos I take in my neighborhood and beyond. These photos were taken at Twin Oast Brewing, Catawba Island, Ohio and were used in the design of my “Twenty-three Flowers” Linoprint.
Hand-printing and hand-pulling the print, using a baron and good old-fashioned muscle.
The design is drawn on Blick Battleship Gray Linoleum (in reverse) then carved using Pfeil and Flexcut gouges.
The Lino is inked with Speedball Supergraphic ink and printed on archival paper - Legion Stonehenge is my favorite - using a baron or my Woodzilla press.
The print is pulled and hung to dry on an antique laundry rack. Oil-based ink can take up to 10 days to fully dry.
The Linoprint is hand-painted using colors inspired by vintage pottery - Cowan, Fiesta, McCoy - making each one a unique work of art.
